"The world was complicated before, but now it is even more so.
I am ok spending hours by myself, but I need to be doing something otherwise it’s lonely. I think I’ve always known this, but the pandemic really brought it to light. Being alone is different from being lonely. Loneliness is painful.
I don’t like hugging anymore. I don’t hold a banister when going up or down public steps or an escalator. I use the "push to open" handicap open door mechanism with my elbow or knee instead of pulling open a public door with bare hands. Being in a crowd or crowded place if people aren’t masked creeps me out. I judge people who wear their mask under their nose. I teach with a mask on to masked students."
